Levi Roots has teamed up with Westfield to find the next big food entrepreneur, 10 years after the Reggae Reggae sauce founder secured investment and mentorship through Dragons’ Den.
Roots went onto open his first standalone restaurant Levi Roots Caribbean Smokehouse in 2015 at Westfield Stratford City.
Roots and Westfield are now looking for ingredient inventors, restaurateurs and cuisine creators to pitch to a panel of experts led by Roots himself, Westfield chief marketing officer Myf Ryan and a number of industry experts.
The winner will receive personal mentoring from Roots and a kick-starter financial injection from Westfield, to turn their idea into a business.
“10 years on from Dragons’ Den, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t value the opportunity I was given to take my idea to the world, and want in turn to be able to give a fellow Londoner with a good idea a platform from which to inspire us all,” says Roots.
“The beauty of food is that it is always evolving, and I look forward to discovering the next big thing with Westfield this June.”
The search is part of Westfield’s partnership with London Food Month to celebrate the city’s food scene.
