Zizzi has launched a new pizza topped with beetroot, sun blushed tomatoes, chilli threads, purple basil and avocado, in collaboration with The World Avocado Organisation, for Veganuary.
The Arcobaleno, meaning ‘rainbow’ in Italian due to the array of colours on the base, can be made non-vegan by switching the cheese type.
The new pizza is included in the two-for-one offer on all main vegan dishes.
“We wanted to create another dish for our menu that ticks multiple boxes for customers by using ingredients that our diners love, and avocado continues to be one of the key ingredients requested at Zizzi,” says Zizzi marketing director Jo Fawcett.
“With social media continuing to drive the trend for visually appealing food, we understand the need to design aesthetically beautiful dishes with more diversification in terms of pizza toppings, resulting in pretty plates of enviable meals that foodies will be snapping in seconds.
“Taking New Year dietary commitments into consideration, whether you’re embracing Dry January or Veganuary, Zizzi has got you covered.”
To help create the new dish, Zizzi has teamed up with The World Avocado Organisation, which has reported that sales of the avocado have increased over 180% since 2013.
The restaurant recently carried out a survey that found that 44% of Brits planned to adapt their diet in January, with 18% opting to cut out meat and 47% avoiding alcohol.
However, 70% were still intending on visiting restaurants during the month, suggesting that operators would need to adjust menus to appeal to a range of diets.
