Are you serving the tastiest tacos in the UK? Does your fried chicken beat all others? Do customers go crazy for your steamed buns?
If you specialise in any type of street food and you fancy a challenge, this is your opportunity to showcase what you do so that you can officially say you are the best in the UK – and win £1,000 to top it off.
The StrEAT Food Challenge is a brand new competition for 2019, looking for entries from casual dining operators, quick service restaurants and market traders, in order to find the best street food currently being served up in the UK. Enter with the dish that your customers rave about most and you could be cooking it alongside fellow street food pioneers at the live final on Wednesday 8 May in London, with the chance of winning Street Food Dish of the Year and the prize money.
There’s more than one chance of going home a winner. Successful finalists will also get to show off their technical skill and creative prowess with a Technical Round, which will see them take on a selection of ingredients provided by the event’s sponsors. There’s also a Wings Round, sponsored by Frank’s Hot Sauce, and the It’s A Wrap Round, sponsored by Major.
“We’re so excited to launch the StrEAT Food Challenge this year,” says Henry Norman, editor of Out of Home Magazine, the title behind the event. “Street food has become the biggest arena for innovation and new trends, and is now synonymous with high-quality, delicious food. I can’t wait to see what the current street food market brings to the final.”
Entries for the StrEAT Food Challenge are now open and close Friday 15 March. Chefs and operators can enter at streatfoodchallenge.co.uk.
StrEAT Food Challenge is sponsored by Ajinomoto, Bewley’s, Electrolux Professional, Farm Frites, Frank’s Hot Sauce, Love Joes, Major and Planglow.
