Monga Fried Chicken has opened its first European site in Chinatown London.
The brand now has more than 40 sites across Taiwan, America, Canada and Europe.
The unit at 12 Macclesfield Street is approximately 750 sq ft with space for roughly 30 covers, and serves the brand’s range of Taiwanese fried chicken with five flavour options alongside Taiwanese beer.
The restaurant interior includes gold, black and white colours, with a Taiwanese opera mask of Guan Jiang Shou being a standout feature.
The brand takes its name from the Wanhua district, also known as Monga, and the logo features Taiwanese TV host Nono, who created the brand alongside Mingdao Liu.
“Having seen the success of Monga in North America, I wanted to bring this successful Taiwanese brand to London and couldn’t think of a better destination than Chinatown London,” says Dragon Chan, European master franchisee of Monga. “We are delighted to sit alongside many leading Asian restaurants and bringing the West a flavour of the East.”
