Chefs, restaurants and street food operators can now submit their entry for next year’s National Burger Awards, which is heading back to London in February 2019.
Entries to the National Burger Awards are now being accepted online, offering chefs the chance to take part in a live cook-off final on Wednesday 20 February 2019 at the Islington Metal Works in London. The chef of the UK’s best burger, as determined by a panel of industry judges, will receive £1,000 as well as the coveted title.
The competition is open to casual dining, hotels, QSR, pub and street food sectors, with chefs being asked to enter a recipe and method behind the best burger in their business.
The live final consists of two cooking rounds – one for their signature burger and one for the creation of a technical burger made up from a specific set of ingredients supplied on the day.
For more information, head to nationalburgerawards.co.uk. Entries close on Friday 11 January 2019.
Cut + Grind in London won the 2018 National Burger Awards with its Juicy Classic burger. Paschalis Loucaides, owner of Cut + Grind, talks about what the win did for his business:
“We had an uplift in sales and repeat visits. It helped with the conversation with customers – people are suddenly talking about our award-winning burger. It also allowed me to knock on some doors – people will take you a little bit more seriously when you say: ‘We won the National Burger Awards’. It helps to have that accreditation. The National Burger Awards was a huge thing for us and it should be a huge thing for anyone.”
